But with kits and the sims 3 store it’s not like most of those gameplay items also came with packs-most of them were only available from the store, so it wasn’t like you can either buy just the item on its own, or get it with a pack if you were interested in the whole thing (which would be a different story and I think that would be a best of both worlds situation). I also def understand the other side of it, like not wanting to pay $20 for a whole pack just for one item (looking at you, classically cool fixer upper car that can only be bought with fkin roaring heights, but that’s a whole other thing since the world itself was a sims 3 store thing and the car only being available through a bigger store purchase just compounded the nasty in that situation lol).

It’s worth noting tho that I’m the type of player who just impulsively buys almost all the packs as they come out (I don’t have most of the kits and there are a couple packs I didn’t buy, but I own most of them lol), and I hate feeling like I’m missing out on stuff.

Even now as an adult who still plays ts3, I hate the sims 3 store and I still feel like in order to get all the gameplay items I want I’d have to drop a ridiculous amount of money for individual items that realistically are nowhere near the value I’d be charged. I don’t like kits but I much prefer those to the store bc I would rather miss out on a couple cas/bb items than a bunch of overpriced gameplay items. Especially when I was a kid who didn’t understand how the store worked and had no means of getting all the items I wanted from it anyways, I always felt like I was missing out on so much. Locking unique gameplay behind a paywall and forcing you to buy just that one item individually was and still is super nasty to me. Honestly that’s the part I hated most about it. There’s still sooo much content we’re lacking that could easily be added via kits, but here we are 957382938 kits later, and all we got in the way of new gameplay is some broken vacuums. Now as for kits, I wouldn’t mind them so much if every other one had gameplay items of some kind. Though I will admit compared to expansions for The Sims 4, expansions for The Sims 3 certainly felt much more complete content wise. My sims never get bored, bc they’ve always got something to do, and some sets complimented other sets and even packs, which is great from a completionist mindset, but is also why even despite how much I enjoyed the sets themselves, I still felt like a lot of these items should’ve just been added to the expansions. That aside, I didn’t love the idea of the store, no, but I did like the content, and how it added a lotta gameplay.

Idk… I liked the store for the fact that it was easier to 🏴‍☠️, and tbh so much of it was so buggy and broken you were better off finding it by other means, and downloading the fixes for it anyway.
